Ahoj! Welcome to my corner of the internet :-)
I am a Certified Public Accountant, with an interest in theoretical, technical, and sustainability accounting. I think that as accountants, we are quantitative historians with a duty to protect the public intrest through truthful and accurate recording and reporting of events. To that end, I am interested in the underlying theoretical frameworks of accounting, and how we can apply these frameworks to novel economic transactions and other non-economic events, such as greenhouse gas emissions or labor.
My professional career has largely consisted of SEC reporting, technical accounting, and sustainability. I have experience in preparing and filing 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, Section 16 filings, proxy statements, and registration statements. I have a deep and complex understanding of accounting for receivables, credit losses, revenue recognition (both under ASC 606 and ASC 310), leases, foreign currency, and internally-developed intangible assets, although my interest in accounting research makes it easy to continue learning about topics.
I also have a passion for sustainability. I have experience in both operational sustainability and sustainability accounting. I've been the chair of sustainability committees and conducted materiality assessments, developed risk-control matricies, created an approach to sustainability, trained employees on sustainability, implemented new sustainability initatives, and managed sustainability audits with third parties. From a sustainability accounting and reporting perspective, I've aligned our sustainability framework with third-party standards such as the GRI, the United Nations' SDGs, and the IFRS' SASB Standards. Additionally, I've designed and drafted sustainability annual reports and led the accounting for greenhouse gas emissions following the GHG Protocol.
Outside of my career, I enjoy volunteering as a tax reviewer providing free tax services to low-income households with the IRS' VITA program, watching horror movies, candlemaking, re-learning the violin, cooking, and expanding my ever-growing collection of tattoos.
Feel free to reach out, I'd love to get to know you! :-)
